Valentines Round-up

I'll be busy tonight making a bunch of Valentine stuff with the kids.  Talk about Procrastination...LOL, Yep, that's just how I roll!

I'm going to make my own sort of printable using this idea for my sons preschool class.  Wish I could find a printable all ready to go, haven't had too much time to try and find one, I'll just make one later tonight. I love this idea, cute and simple and perfect for preschool.

My oldest daughter wanted to make these for her 3rd grade class, but I couldn't find any Pop Rocks...weird!??

So, we are making these for her class and my other daughters 1st grade class as well.  They should turn out cute. Go Here for the Free Printable too. That's always a plus!

I'll be helping in my daughters 1st grade class.  So a couple other moms and I tried to brainstorm up some easy ideas.  

We will be doing this easy and fun game

Use the larger version of these candy hearts.  The kids desks are already grouped together in groups of 5, so with there little groups we will have them stack the hearts as high as they can.  Whoever can stack it the highest and it stays for 3 seconds wins! I think they will like it.

We will also be doing Don't Eat Pete.  I love this game.  It's so simple, but kids love it! It's easy to do with popcorn or cereal instead of candy pieces, I think they will get enough sugar on Valentines Anyway.  You can use this game for so many things! I already had this print out, so I just made a couple extra copies and laminated it for each table group.

Plus you could make it a gift for any holiday.  Print it out, laminate and add a bag of M&M's....cute gift and it's for some family fun time too! Love it!

We will also be doing some cute and easy crafts in the classroom, there are so many on the web, it's hard to choose.  

I also loved this idea for a drink.  "Love Potion" you could add a crystal light or kool-aid mix in.  They would have fun mixing in their love potion. :) I may just do this with my own kids rather than a class of 26 kids :)

Well, that's that for class room and kids valentine ideas this year.....now to think of what to do for my own family! Whew, it could be a long night! Wish me luck! ;)

Of course I already know what's for breakfast...pink pancakes, strawberry milk and whatever other pink stuff I can think of.  The kids love it! Then, for St. Patrick's day it will be green!

Love is in the Air....

My hubby and I just celebrated our 10th Anniversary. Woot Woot!! We didn't go on an amazing trip or anything like that.  We almost weren't able to spend the day together just us, but thankfully we were able to a couple days after the official day.  We had an amazing time at the St. George Temple, and then who wouldn't love Texas Roadhouse, browsing through stores without the kids, and then some Cold Stone!!!  We don't ever get to spend that much time together just me and him and it was great.  I was sooooo stuffed after Texas Roadhouse....LOL, but I just had to have me some Cold Stone....that was the original plan of course so we had to stick to it. :)  I got a couple delicious bites and couldn't fit in any more!!  He couldn't either, but those bites were oh so good as always!!  He got me a New Rose Bush and a lovely "Pink Lemonade" Lemon Tree that I can't wait to plant and just hope hope hope that I don't kill it!!! I want to be a great Gardner to badly and fix up our yard....but anything I plant dies....LOL.....help my yard!!

Anyway, relationships are so important to me.  I know how important it is to spend quality time together and talk to each other.  I had it in the plans to make a little "love notes" journal.  He wasn't too excited about the idea....{he's such a guys guy...haha} but I know now that I. AM. MAKING. this and hope we can keep it up and I think it will be amazing to look back on one day.  Check out this great Love Journal idea over on the Dating Divas.  I just the ideas they have over there to strengthen and keep your relationships going strong.  Take the time for your loved ones.  It's so important.

Candy Heart Bracelets

I love this idea.  I think my girls would have fun making these, even a fun little handout for Young Women or something.  So this is definitely on my to do list. All you need is Dental Floss, Needle, Ribbon and candies, any kind that you could poke a hole through...even wrapped chocolate hearts or something like that. So, fun to experiment and try.  This would be fun for any holiday.

I'm finally sharing my version of the "52 reason why I love you" using playing cards. I saw a few versions of this in a couple different places and never saved the link...sorry =(

But I loved this idea and here is how my version turned out.

Instead, I did 35 reasons why I love you + 17 little promises = 52 for a Happy Valentines Day!

I thought it could also work good for an Anniversary!

This is another great idea from Tatertots and Jello to use with playing cards. Something you can create for the kids as well. I love this site, check it out!

Valentine Cookie Suckers & Cookie Sucker Bouquet

These Cookie Suckers are so fun and pretty simple! What you need:

*Pre-packaged Sugar Cookie dough

*Frosting

*Sprinkles/Candy Pieces

*Popcicle Sticks

*Curly Ribbon/Tags

*plastic wrap or treat bags

Roll Cookie Dough into about a 1 1/2 inch ball, stick popcicle stick in about 1/2 way. Put on sprayed cookie sheet overlapping popcicle sticks as neccesary. Bake at 350 for about 15 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Let cool on sheet for about 2 minutes and then cool completely on cookie rack for about 10 minutes. Frost and add sprinkles and candy pieces. You can eat them right then (Yum!) or wait for frosting to dry before you put in plastic wrap or bag. Tie with curly ribbon, add a Valentine tag if desired. Now you have a cute cookie Valentine Sucker.

Gather them in a vase or pot to make a Cookie Bouquet!
This is a cute way to pass out to a class or give to Grandma and Grandpa, neighbor or any other special someone. I think it would be cute to make smaller pots for your visiting teaching ladies.

All I did was get one of those Clay pots for 1.00 at Walmart. There are smaller and bigger sizes. Paint with Craft paint and Tie a Bow. I put in some green floral foam to stick my suckers into. You can then add some basket filler. It would be really cute to add Vinyl lettering on your pot saying, "I pick you Valentine," or something cute like that.

School Valentines- Melted Heart Crayons

This is a fun Project to do with your kids.

Everytime our crayons start to get old and broken we Recycle them. Since it's close to Valentines Day we decided to make hearts! Sooo Cute! All you need:

*Heart-shaped metal (or silicone) cookie or muffin tin.

(My hearts are about 1 1/2 inches across in size)

*Broken up Crayons (soak crayons in water to easily remove the paper)

{Most of our crayons we just break in half and they fit into the mold nicely, but you can use smaller pieces if you want it real colorful.}

If you are using a metal mold you may want to spray with cooking spray before you put the crayon pieces in.

What to do: Preheat oven to 250. Fill up mold with crayon pieces. Put on a cookie sheet and Bake about 15 minutes or until crayons are completely melted. Let cool completely and remove from mold. Smooth any rough edges by rubbing them on a piece of scrap paper.

And there you have it....Cute Recycled Crayons read to use. Try out many different shapes or simply use a small muffin tin for circles.

You can make some simple School Valentines, just stick it to cardstock paper with 2-sided sticky Foam pieces. Another fun saying is "You color my world Valentine!"
